  • 2020-today: Dartwars project for the development of a parametric superconducting travelling-wave amplifier for reading thermal detectors and superconducting qubits.
  • 2020-today: qub-IT project for the development of a superconducting qubits for astroparticle physics experiments.
  • 2018-today: International project PTOLEMY, A Proposal for Thermal Relic Detection of Massive Neutrinos and Directional Detection of MeV Dark Matter, for a revolutionary experiment for detecting the Cosmic Neutrino Background (CNB).
  • 2011-today: Experiment for the determination of neutrino mass by calorimetric measurement of the electron capture spectrum of 163 Ho. Activity started within the MARE project, merged in 2014 into the HOLMES experiment.
  • 2005-2013: International project MARE, Microcalorimeter Array for a Rhenium Experiment, for the realisation of a new experiment for the calorimetric measurement of the neutrino mass by studying the beta spectrum of 187 Re with thermal microcalorimeters and with a statistical sensitivity down to 0.1 eV.
  • 2004-today: International CUORE experiment, Cryogenic Underground Observatory for Rare Events, to explore the inverse hierarchy of neutrino masses by searching for the double beta decay without neutrino emission (ββ-0ν) of 130Te with a one-tonne array of low-temperature TeO2 detectors at the Gran Sasso National Laboratories.
  • 2002-today: Research and development on innovative low-temperature detectors and cryogenic technologies to be used in Astroparticle Physics experiments
  • 2011-2014: Development of Microresonator Detectors for Neutrino Physics of Fondazione Cariplo (ref. 2010-2351).
  • 1999-2008: International CUORICINO experiment for the search of ββ-0ν of 130 Te with low-temperature TeO2 detector arrays at the Gran Sasso National Laboratories.
  • 1993-2007: MIBETA experiment for the direct and calorimetric measurement of the neutrino mass through the study of the beta decay end-point of 187 Re and with the use of thermal microdetectors.
  • 1992-1993: Research and development on sapphire thermal detectors with superconducting tungsten thermometers for the direct detection of Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMP) at the Max-Planck-Institut für Physik.
  • 1991-2001: Research and development on low-temperature TeO2 detectors for the search of ββ-0ν of 130 Te at the INFN laboratories of Milan in parallel with several experiments with arrays of TeO2 detectors of gradually increasing mass at the Gran Sasso National Laboratories.

Research Performance

More than 270 publications in refereed international journals with over 5000 citations; 10 (5) articles with more than 100 (200) cites. h-index=39 – Source Scopus, March 2022.
